The forbidden city and the great wall

I am Ran Tian, born in 1992 in Beijing. Beijing is my hometown. As one of the oldest cities in the world, Beijing has many places of historic interest and beauty including the great wall and the forbidden city. The picture above is the forbidden city, which was built around 500 years ago by a Emperor in Ming Dynasty. The whole city consists of 980 buildings which exemplifies traditional Chinese palatial architecture. It is now listed as the largest collection of preserved ancient wooden structure in the world. And the great wall has even much longer history. It was built in 220, which is around 2000 years ago by the first emperor in the history or China - Qin Shi Huang. The purpose of building the great wall was to defend the country from other clans in the north and also set up a border control which is like the wall between North and South Korea now. Even after 2000 years, the wall is still standing and remained as the powerful symbol of China.
